Farmer – You grow a fairly small crop to feed your family and still have enough to sell for the rest of your family’s needs. Like most Northern farmers, you are not well educated but know how to live off the land.
Tradesman – You are a skilled craftsman who specializes in working with metal or wood. (A tradesman could be a blacksmith or a carpenter.) Tradesmen are growing scarce as factories begin to replace the need for a tradesman’s services.
Former Slave – You escaped slavery in the South using the Underground Railroad and have decided to fight for the freedom of the other slaves still in bondage.
Factory Worker – You live in the growing cities of the industrial northeastern United States. Industrial manufacturers employ thousands of workers, who create a great variety of goods.
Professional – Like the lawyers, doctors, teachers, and other well-educated people living throughout the North, you volunteered to fight for the principles that you believe in.

Farmer – The vast majority of farmers in the South do not live on huge plantations and own hundreds of slaves. Like most Southern farmers, you grow enough to provide for your family, plus a little extra to sell at market.
Tradesman – As a carpenter or blacksmith, you are very important in the South. Because there’s a lack of factories producing manufactured goods, the items you make from metal and wood are in high demand.
Overseer – Your job is to manage, or oversee, slaves. Plantation owners rely on overseers to keep the slaves under control and working hard.
Dockworker – You are a laborer at one of the many port cities of the South. You are strong and can work long hours without tiring.
Aristocrat – You are a wealthy member of the southern upper class. Well-educated, probably in Europe, you are one of the plantation growers and slave owners of the South.
